Amery Court grows a mix of apples, pears and top fruit partly in a substantial greenhouse system with crops under LEDs. The site also incorporates cold stores and water pumps for irrigation; all of which lead to high energy consumption. Having originally installed smaller systems in 2016 and 2019, ESS Group then installed the 200kWp ground mount array to maximise daily generation. Due to export limits with the local network we designed an East/West facing array which generates power earlier in the morning and later in the afternoon to spread the generation across the day and avoid midday output spikes. The site now has a combined 290kWp of rooftop and ground mounted panels with full import/export monitoring to ensure optimal performance. Battery storage is planned to accommodate future expansion and to maximise self-consumption of the generated power.
